Grok Bot Template Rewards: what the official terms say, and how templates get shared

Updated · by Rosh Perera

Grok Bot Template Rewards is an invite-only pilot run by X, and its official terms say payments are discretionary rewards, not a revenue share. We found no way to apply on any official page, and xAI and Cursor publish no process for getting a template listed in the Marketplace. Creators on X asked how to join, whether anyone is being paid and why their shared templates don't appear in the Marketplace. This guide sticks to X's official program terms, which also tie your Grok Bot use to SpaceXAI's and Cursor's terms, and to xAI's Grok Bot docs, checked 20 Oct 2026. We make no earnings claims and quote no amounts. We're an independent site, not part of xAI.

How does Grok Bot Template Rewards work?

  • What the program is

The terms are between you and X Corp. They say: "The Program is a limited pilot for evaluation purposes in which X may make discretionary payments to participating Creators in connection with Grok Bot templates they publish and post on X." It started on 25 Sep 2026 for an anticipated duration of approximately two months, and X may extend, modify, pause or end it at any time. The terms add: "This is not a revenue share."

  • Who's eligible

During the pilot, participation is by invitation only. The terms list these requirements: at least 18, located in the United States and in a state where X Money is supported; a Grok Bot account and an X account in good standing, with a verified email address on your Grok Bot account; an eligible X Premium tier, or being an affiliate of an eligible Premium Business; and an active X Money account, including identity verification and tax onboarding. Employees, contractors and agents of X, SpaceXAI, Cursor and their affiliates are excluded unless pre-approved in writing. How invitations are chosen: not stated.

  • How rewards are decided

X decides whether to pay and how much, in its sole discretion. Factors may include your templates' use by other Grok Bot users, but the terms exclude your own use, accounts X determines are associated with you, use by employees of X, SpaceXAI or Cursor, and use on free trials. Rewards are initially reviewed every two weeks and paid in US dollars to your X Money balance, after X Money onboarding. The terms say: "Receipt of an invitation does not promise any payment or any amount."

  • The rules that can cost you

You may not artificially inflate the use of your templates, including through your own accounts, scripted usage or paid downloads. Publishing near-duplicate templates or splitting templates across accounts to get extra minimums or bonuses breaches the terms. Templates must be your own original work. Your X post with the share link must stay public and unedited for at least 30 days after it qualified you, and promotional posts need X's paid partnership label. X can recoup amounts, including from other X programs, if it finds a breach. The terms also give X, SpaceXAI and Cursor a license to host, display and let users clone your published templates.

  • Sharing a template vs a Marketplace listing

Anyone can share a Bot. xAI's FAQ: open the Share menu, choose Create template, then Copy link, and pick Public link or Team-only. It warns: "The link exposes the Bot's configuration. Strip secrets and anything confidential before you share." Adding a shared Bot accepts the third-party bot terms. The Marketplace is different: xAI's Bots docs say Marketplace in the sidebar also lists Bots that you can add, and xAI's Marketplace page shows sections such as From Grok Bot Team and Featured. We found no xAI or Cursor page that explains how a creator's template gets listed there, so we don't guess.

  • What makes a template worth adding

This is our view, not a program rule. Give it one clear job, a first message that tells people what to connect, drafts or approvals before anything is sent, and no secrets in the configuration. Test it on a fresh account before you share the link. You can also submit it to our template directory through our submit page, which is separate from X's program.

  • Start from a template, not a blank page

xAI's Use cases page lists 56 jobs and its official Marketplace lists 90 public templates, as of 20 Oct 2026 (our Grok Bot template stats page). Our templates page has drafts-first versions with copy-ready prompts, and our free What should my bot do? planner picks a first job for a business.

How do you share a template safely?

  1. Build a Bot for one job and test it on a fresh account.
  2. Remove keys, passwords and client details from its configuration.
  3. Open the Share menu, choose Create template, then Copy link, and pick Public link or Team-only.
  4. If you've been invited to the program, read the terms and label promotional posts as paid partnerships.
  5. Submit it to our template directory to reach small business owners.

What should creators watch out for?

  • Don't share a template that contains keys, passwords or client details. The link exposes the Bot's configuration (xAI's FAQ).
  • Don't buy or script usage. The terms treat it as manipulation, and X can recoup payments.
  • You're responsible for taxes on any payment, and the terms include binding arbitration for US participants.
  • Program terms can change. Read the current version on X's legal site before you rely on anything here.
  • Start in draft mode: the agent prepares, you approve, then you loosen the leash routine by routine.

FAQ

"how to apply Grok Bot Template Rewards program?"

We found no application form. X's terms say participation is by invitation only during the pilot, and how invitations are chosen isn't stated.

"anyone actually getting paid from Grok Bot Template Rewards yet?"

The terms allow participants to say publicly that they take part and to share amounts, but we don't report anyone's earnings. Payments are discretionary rewards determined by X, and the terms say an invitation does not promise any payment or any amount.

"Six Grok Bot templates published, all live by link - none in the Marketplace. How does a template get listed?"

We found no xAI or Cursor page that explains how a creator's template gets into the Marketplace. Sharing by link works for anyone: Share menu, Create template, Copy link (xAI's FAQ).

Is Template Rewards available outside the US?

No. X's terms require you to be located in the United States, in a state where X Money is supported.

Does my own use of my template count?

No. The terms exclude your own use, accounts associated with you, staff use and use on free trials.

Do I need to label my posts?

Yes. The terms require X's paid partnership label on posts promoting an eligible template, and the post with the share link must stay public and unedited for at least 30 days after it qualified you.
