What can Grok Bot do for an auto repair shop? Your first 3 bots
Updated · by Rosh Perera
Grok Bot can take three jobs off an auto repair shop: text drafts for the calls you miss under a car, job-ready and reminder messages from your booking list, and replies to your reviews. It drafts and you approve, so nothing reaches a customer without your OK, and diagnoses, prices and is-it-safe-to-drive answers stay with you. This guide is for independent garages, mechanics and tyre or service shops. Want the tool-neutral version? See AI agents for cleaning and auto repair. Grok Bot facts here come from xAI's Grok Bot docs, its Use cases page and changelog, and Cursor's Grok Bot help, checked 20 Oct 2026. Want a pick for your exact business? Bot 1: missed-call text drafts
When you miss a call, the Bot drafts a short text: sorry, we're on a job, do you need a booking, a price or an update on your car? You approve it before it goes. That's our missed-call text back template, and our missed-call text back guide covers phone setups. It collects make, model, year and the symptom, never a diagnosis.
Bot 2: job-ready updates and reminders
From your booking calendar or a daily export, the Bot drafts tomorrow's reminders and a short job-ready message when you mark a car done. That's our appointment reminders template. Cursor's help says the Google Calendar app can read calendars you can see (Grok Bot help: Connect apps). Prices and extra work go in your words, approved by you.
Bot 3: replies to your reviews
When a review comes in, the Bot drafts a short reply in your voice, and you post it yourself. That's our review reply template. Our review request template asks every recent customer alike, never only the happy ones.
Start from xAI's own templates
xAI's Use cases page lists 56 jobs and its official Marketplace lists 90 public templates, as of 20 Oct 2026 (our Grok Bot template stats page). Each use case has an Add to Grok Bot button (xAI's Use cases page). For a garage, the closest official ones are Inbox Manager, where "Every send stays behind your approval", and Calendar Coordinator, which "Schedules across calendars and chases the holds nobody else has time to chase" (xAI's Use cases page). Our templates page has drafts-first versions of the jobs in this guide, with copy-ready prompts.
Run all three through one daily list
Have each Bot hold its drafts, and add our daily approval list template so you approve, edit or reject them in one numbered list. An approval raised by a routine expires after about 10 minutes, and the action doesn't run (xAI's Approvals docs), so a list you check after the last car leaves is safer than cards you might miss. Our Grok Bot approvals guide covers the rest.
Set the schedules on purpose
Ask the Bot that owns the job to create the routine, and confirm the schedule and time zone (xAI's Skills and routines docs). Each run spends usage, and an hourly schedule or a Slack trigger on a busy channel can use a week of usage in a day (Grok Bot help: Routines). Our templates run missed-call drafts as calls come in, reminders each afternoon and review replies once a day.
Test each one before it runs on its own
Use Test run after you create or edit a routine. A test run does real work, so test with yesterday's bookings and an old review, not live customers, and check it stopped at the approval point (xAI's Skills and routines docs). Run each Bot for a week, approve every draft and tell it each edit you made. Then add the next one.

- 01Missed-call text-back that books the job
Every missed call gets a short text drafted for you to approve, asking what they need and offering a booking link. Instant sending is an optional upgrade later.
~6h/week · estimate - 02Appointment reminders that cut no-shows, with your OK on each day's list
Each afternoon the agent drafts reminders for tomorrow's appointments. You approve the list in one go (approve all, edit or remove), then it sends. Reschedule replies wait for your OK too. Sending without review is an optional upgrade.
~3h/week · estimate - 03Reply to every Google (and other) review, with your OK before posting
Paste new reviews and get a short, honest reply draft in your voice. Good ones get a specific thank-you; bad ones get a calm offline fix-it offer. You post every reply yourself.
~2h/week · estimate - 04Ask every customer for a review, with your OK on each day's list
After each completed job the agent drafts the same friendly review request, with your Google link, for every customer. You approve the day's list in one go, then it sends. It flags any complaint that comes back to you.
~2h/week · estimate - 05One daily list of drafts to approve
Your bots hold every email, message and post they write as a draft. Once a day (or once a week) you get one numbered list and answer approve, edit or reject for each. Nothing goes out unapproved.
~1h/week · estimate
Example: Grok Bot setup
Grok Bot routine: Missed-call text-back that books the job Schedule: Always on (missed calls) When I miss a call, draft a short text to the caller: apologize, ask what they need, and offer two booking times from my calendar. Send me the draft to approve, and only send it to the caller after I approve it. (Instant sending is an optional upgrade once you trust the wording.) Log the lead and notify me with a summary. Rules: draft first, never send or post anything external without my approval. Keep summaries short.

Setup steps
- Make Bot 1 with a short name and one primary job, and in your first message tell it the work, the sources to use and when to ask for your approval, then ask it to remember that (Grok Bot help: Onboarding): draft a text for each missed call asking whether they need a booking, a price or an update, and collect make, model, year and the symptom, for my approval. Never diagnose, never quote.
- Make Bot 2 for tomorrow's reminders and job-ready messages from your booking calendar.
- Make Bot 3 for review reply drafts, and post replies yourself.
- Add the daily approval list and check it after the last car leaves.
- Run all three for a week and approve every draft before you add anything else.
Keep these human
- Diagnoses, quotes, extra work and is-it-safe-to-drive answers are yours. A Bot never guesses a price or a fault.
- Warranty claims, complaints and damage come straight to you with the original message.
- Keep card numbers and customer keys or lockbox codes out of chat and prompts.
- Personal Bots no longer have a description, so lasting rules go in chat: ask the Bot to remember them, like "From now on, ask before sending any email" (Grok Bot help: Edit a Bot).
- Never paste a password or one-time code in chat. Sign in yourself with Take over, then choose I'm done (xAI's Approvals docs).
- Start in draft mode: the agent prepares, you approve, then you loosen the leash routine by routine.

FAQ
What can Grok Bot do for an auto repair shop?
Start with three drafts-first jobs: texts for missed calls, reminders and job-ready messages from your bookings, and replies to your reviews. You approve each one.
Can it diagnose a car or quote a repair?
No. It can collect make, model, year and the symptom for you. Diagnoses and prices stay with you.
Can it answer my phone?
This guide covers written drafts, not live calls. Our missed-call text back guide covers phone setups that text callers back.
Will it send messages to customers on its own?
Not if you keep drafts on. A Bot can write an email as a draft for you to review, then Send or Discard it (Grok Bot changelog), and you can add an Ask first rule for external email in Settings → General → Auto-review (xAI's Approvals docs).
Are there official Grok Bot templates for this?
xAI's Use cases page lists 56 jobs and its Marketplace lists 90 public templates, as of 20 Oct 2026 (our Grok Bot template stats page). None is made for this business type, so start from the closest ones named in this guide and set your own rules in the first message.
Where do I put the Bot's rules?
In chat. Personal Bots no longer have a description; for a lasting rule, ask the Bot to remember it (Grok Bot help: Edit a Bot). A Team Bot you own or manage still has a description.
