Grok Bot vs Lindy for a small business (Oct 2026)

Updated · by Rosh Perera

Lindy and Grok Bot are both AI assistants you give ongoing work, like inbox triage, drafting replies and meeting follow-ups. The main differences are how you pay and how work is organised. Lindy bills per active user with a pool of credits (lindy.ai/pricing). Grok Bot comes with The X Subscription plans and gives you Bots with one job each. This comparison uses the vendors' own pages, plus a public pricing tracker because Lindy's page changed this week. Unsure what to automate first? Try our free planner.

What to hand to an agent first

  • Price and usage units

Grok Bot: on The X Subscription, Premium is $30 a month, Super $100 and Ultra $200, each with weekly Grok Bot usage included; extra usage is billed on token cost (x.ai, checked 18 Oct 2026). Lindy: a Free start with $50 in credits, then a Team plan billed per active user with pooled credits; top-ups are $10 per 1,000 credits, and Enterprise adds HIPAA with a signed BAA, SSO and audit logs (lindy.ai/pricing). Lindy's pricing page showed per-user Team prices from $29.99 a month for 3,000 credits or from $49.99 a month for 5,000 credits on 20 Oct 2026 (the price shown varied between visits). Check the live page before you pay.

  • What a credit buys

Lindy publishes ranges: 2 to 250 credits for everyday asks like drafting a reply, 250 to 1,000 for deep work, and 1,000 to 2,500 for big builds. If the pool runs low, Lindy pauses and tells you (lindy.ai/pricing).

  • How you hand over work

Grok Bot: you make a Bot for one job and write its rules in plain words. Routines run on a schedule or start from events, and Bots keep working with your laptop closed on a shared cloud computer with its own browser (x.ai, Grok Bot 101). Lindy: you ask it for work across your tools, choose a model per task and, on Team, use computer use (lindy.ai/pricing).

  • Approvals

Grok Bot: before sending, posting, buying or deleting, a Bot shows you the action and you choose Allow once, Always allow or Deny, and you can add Ask first rules in Settings, General, Auto-review (xAI's Approvals docs). With Lindy, check its settings for anything that sends on your behalf and keep drafts on until you trust them.

  • Which fits

Pick Lindy if several people on your team will use one shared assistant and you're comfortable with per-user billing. Pick Grok Bot if one owner wants a few standing Bots with separate jobs and already has, or wants, The X Subscription.

Copy-ready prompt

Test job for either tool (drafts only):
Every weekday at 8:00, sort yesterday's emails in [inbox] into: reply today, reply this week, FYI, ignore.
For "reply today", draft a reply in my tone (max 6 lines).
Post the sorted list and drafts here.
Rules: don't send, archive or delete anything.

Works as a Grok Bot routine, a ChatGPT scheduled task or a Claude project instruction. Fill in the [brackets] first. It only writes drafts.

Example: Grok Bot setup

Grok Bot routine: Inbox triage with drafted replies
Schedule: Twice daily 9:00 and 15:00

Twice a day, go through new emails. Label each as Reply, FYI or Ignore. For Reply, write a draft in my voice (short, friendly, direct) and save it as a draft, never send. Send me a list of drafts to approve and any FYIs worth knowing.

Rules: draft first, never send or post anything external without my approval. Keep summaries short.

Setup steps

  1. Pick one real job you do every week, like a Monday list of overdue invoices.
  2. Write it in five lines: what to read, what to make, where to put it, what it must never do.
  3. Run it in the tool you already pay for, drafts only, for one week.
  4. Write down every fix you had to make.
  5. Only then try the other tool on the same job and compare the fixes, not the demos.

Keep these human

  • Both tools can act in your accounts. Keep anything sent in your name, paid for or deleted on approval, in either one.
  • Prices and plans here are list prices from the vendors' own pages on the dates shown. They change often, so check both before you pay.
  • We're an independent site with no commission from either vendor. We haven't measured either tool on your work, so any time saved is an estimate.
