How to connect Google Calendar to Grok Bot (suggest, don't book)

Updated · by Rosh Perera

This guide is for owners who don't code. A connector is the link that lets your Bot use one of your apps, here Google Calendar. Once it's connected, your Bot can look at your day, spot clashes and suggest times. The safe way to start: the Bot reads and suggests, and you confirm. It never adds, moves or cancels a job on its own, and it never sends an invite without your OK. Invites email other people, so they count as sending. If you haven't made your first Bot yet, start with our Grok Bot setup guide. Facts come from xAI's and Google's own pages, checked 18 Oct 2026. If a button looks different, check the current app. We're an independent site, not part of xAI.

What to hand to an agent first

  • Ask your Bot to connect your calendar

Open a chat with your Bot and type: connect my Google Calendar. xAI's support guide says you tell the Bot what to connect, click Authorize, which means you give it permission, then finish in your browser (Grok Bot for Support). You can also use Connect apps in the sidebar (Grok Bot changelog).

  • Know the levels of calendar access

Google lists different levels. An app might only see when you're free or busy. It might see your events. Or it might see and change them (Google Calendar permissions list). Read Google's screen to see which one you're giving. Your rule keeps the Bot to looking and suggesting.

  • Give your Bot the suggest-only rule

Rules go in Settings → General → Auto-review, in plain words (Grok Bot 101, xAI's Approvals docs). One of xAI's own example Bots drafts moves and invites only after you confirm, and never writes to the calendar silently (Grok Bot for Work). Use the same idea.

  • Use it for your morning plan

A good first job: each morning, list today's jobs and any clashes, plus travel gaps that look too short. Our Grok Bot setup guide and morning brief template show this. xAI's changelog says Bots check your other calendars before saying an event is missing.

  • Add the Gmail guide next

Most booking requests arrive by email. Once the calendar works, connect Gmail with our Gmail guide, so the Bot can draft a reply that offers two free times for you to approve.

Setup steps

  1. In Grok Bot, open a chat with the Bot that will plan your day. Type: connect my Google Calendar.
  2. Click Authorize on the card. Sign in to your work Google account in the browser window that opens.
  3. Read what Google's screen says the app can do: see free or busy times, see events, or change them. If you're unsure, stop and check the current app.
  4. Open Settings → General → Auto-review. Paste: "Calendar is suggest-only. You may read my calendars and suggest changes. Never create, move or cancel an event, and never send an invite, without my OK."
  5. Test it. Ask: what's on tomorrow, and do any jobs clash? Check the answer against your calendar. Run it each morning for a week before you put it on a schedule.

Keep these human

  • Suggest-only means the Bot may read your calendar and suggest changes. It never creates, moves or cancels an event, and never sends an invite, without your OK.
  • Invites and cancellations email your customers. Treat them like any other email: you approve first.
  • If you use more than one calendar, such as work and family, tell the Bot which ones it may read.
  • Your Bots share one computer, so a login added for one Bot can be used by the others (Grok Bot 101). Connect the calendar only where it's needed.
  • Check what has access to your Google account now and then on Google's linked apps page, and remove what you don't use (Google Account Help).

FAQ

What can Grok Bot do with my Google Calendar?

Once connected, it can read your events, spot clashes and suggest times. With the suggest-only rule, you confirm every change and every invite yourself.

Can it book customers into my calendar on its own?

Not with this rule. Booking changes your calendar and often emails the customer. Keep that on approval: the Bot suggests, you confirm.

Will it see my personal calendar too?

It can see what the account you connect can see. Google's permission list includes access to all the calendars you can open. Tell the Bot in its rule which calendars it may read, or connect a work-only account.

How do I disconnect Google Calendar?

Remove it in Grok Bot, then remove its access on Google's linked apps page in your Google account (Google Account Help). The exact Grok Bot button may move, so check the current app.

Where do I get a ready-made morning plan?

Our free Starter Kit includes a morning brief prompt. The One-Person AI Business Pack ($29 one-time, plus local tax where it applies) adds a guardrail block with escalation rules and a 7-day install plan, and the pack page offers a done-for-you setup of one workflow ($149 one-time, plus local tax where it applies).
