No Grok Bot connector for your app? What to do instead

Updated · by Rosh Perera

First search Connect apps again, because new connectors keep arriving: on 16 Oct 2026 the official Grok Bot account posted that Grok Bot "now connects to Robinhood, Coinbase, Trello, PostHog, beehiiv, eToro, and more." You can also give your Bot the vendor's connector link. If the app has its own MCP server, it can be added as a custom server. Otherwise the Bot can use the website in its browser, with you signing in when it hands you the step. Facts come from xAI's Grok Bot docs and changelog, Cursor's Grok Bot help and official posts on X, checked 20 Oct 2026. We're an independent site, not part of xAI.

What do I do if my app has no Grok Bot connector?

  • Search Connect apps again

xAI's docs say connectors "are installed as plugins from Connect apps": open it from the sidebar, browse or search, choose Add and finish the sign-in. xAI's changelog says search also finds plugins whose description matches, and a search with no results says so.

  • Give your Bot the connector link

xAI's changelog says: "When you give a Bot a connector link, it installs the matching plugin from the catalog when there is one." If a vendor publishes a Grok Bot connector link, paste it into chat.

  • If the vendor has its own MCP server

xAI's Team Bots docs list two kinds of custom MCP server: Remote HTTPS, and Command, which runs on the computer the conversation uses. For a server that needs secrets, xAI says to choose Remote HTTPS, and never to put a credential in a Command server's command or arguments. xAI's changelog adds that Grok Bot can't yet reach an MCP server on a private Tailscale network, and suggests exposing it with Tailscale Funnel.

  • On a team, ask your admin

If you use Grok Bot through a Cursor team, your Cursor team admin controls which apps are available, and a disabled app needs your admin to turn it on (Cursor help: Connect apps). SharePoint is one example: a Cursor team admin connects it from the dashboard Integrations page, then each member signs in with their own Microsoft account the first time a Bot uses it.

  • Fall back to the Bot's browser

xAI's docs say to use the browser "for services without a connector or for visual workflows a connector does not expose." When the Bot reaches a sign-in page, it hands you the step: choose Take over, sign in, then I'm done (Cursor help). A site may still block automation or show a CAPTCHA, and the Bot should hand those to you (xAI's FAQ). Keep that job to drafts, because a sign-in on the shared computer can be used by every Bot on your account.

The agent writes each client a clear progress update from your tasks and messages.
    ~3h/week · estimate

Example: Grok Bot setup

Grok Bot routine: Inbox triage with drafted replies
Schedule: Twice daily 9:00 and 15:00

Twice a day, go through new emails. Label each as Reply, FYI or Ignore. For Reply, write a draft in my voice (short, friendly, direct) and save it as a draft, never send. Send me a list of drafts to approve and any FYIs worth knowing.

Rules: draft first, never send or post anything external without my approval. Keep summaries short.

What should you try, in order?

  1. Search Connect apps for the app, and for words from its description.
  2. If the vendor publishes a Grok Bot connector link, paste it into chat.
  3. If the vendor runs its own MCP server, add it as a custom Remote HTTPS server.
  4. On a Cursor team, ask your admin whether the app is disabled.
  5. Otherwise, let the Bot use the website, sign in yourself with Take over, and keep the job to drafts.

What should you avoid?

  • Don't paste API keys or passwords in chat. Use a secure secret request, or sign in yourself with Take over (xAI's Approvals docs).
  • Never put a credential in a Command server's command or arguments (xAI's Team Bots docs).
  • Don't sign in on the Bot's computer to an account that one of your Bots shouldn't use. Every Bot on your account can use that sign-in (Cursor help).
  • Check a third-party connector's own terms and pricing before you add it.
  • Start in draft mode: the agent prepares, you approve, then you loosen the leash routine by routine.

FAQ

"No connector exists to SMS, etc. So please share how the Bot handles this."

Search Connect apps first, and give the Bot the vendor's connector link if there is one. Otherwise, add the vendor's own MCP server if it has one, or let the Bot work in the vendor's website with you signing in. The catalog changes often, so check Connect apps on the day.

"Can one of those improvements be a Google Chat connector please"

Search Connect apps first. If there's still none, a custom MCP server or the Bot's browser are the documented routes. Ask the Bot to check whether the vendor publishes an MCP server before it builds anything.

How do I add a custom MCP server?

xAI's Team Bots docs describe Remote HTTPS and Command servers. For anything that needs a key, xAI says to choose Remote HTTPS, and never to put a credential in a Command server's command or arguments.

Why can't I see SharePoint?

On a Cursor team, an admin connects SharePoint from the dashboard Integrations page, then each member signs in with their own Microsoft account (Cursor help: Connect apps).
