Grok Bot email not receiving mail? A checklist for your Bot's address

Updated · by Rosh Perera

If your Bot's mail.grokbot.com address seems to receive nothing, send a plain test from another account and ask your Bot to search its inbox, because the apps have no inbox view and no new-mail alert. If the test doesn't show up, check the status page, then email Cursor support with your account email and the details below. Owners on X and on Cursor's forum said their Bot address got no mail for days, including sign-up links and plain tests, with no bounce. We don't know the cause of those reports and no official page we checked describes an incident, so this guide is a checklist, not a diagnosis. Facts come from Cursor's Grok Bot help and status page and xAI's Grok Bot changelog, checked 20 Oct 2026. We're an independent site, not part of xAI.

Why isn't your Bot's email receiving mail?

  • First, how you see mail at all

Cursor's help says: "There's no inbox view in the apps, and you don't get notifications for new mail." So silence doesn't mean nothing arrived. Ask your Bot, for example "What arrived in your inbox today?" Cursor also says: "Mail that arrived in the last minute may not show up in a search yet." Wait a few minutes before you search again.

  • Send a clean test

Ask your Bot what its address is, and copy it exactly. Then send a short plain email with no attachments from another account you own, such as your Gmail, and note the time. After a few minutes, ask the Bot to search for mail from that address. If you use a tagged form of the address, test the plain address too: xAI's changelog says: "Bots can send from a tagged form of their email address, like name+shop@, and a routine on that tag runs only for its mail."

  • Spam checks and attachments

Cursor's help says: "Mail that fails the spam or virus scan is kept without its body or attachments, and it never starts a routine." Messages can include up to 10 attachments, up to 10 MB each and 25 MB in total, and attachments beyond those limits are skipped. If a message arrived empty, ask the sender to resend it with smaller or fewer files.

  • Mail arrives, but nothing happens

New mail doesn't start a chat or wake a Bot on its own. A Bot acts on incoming mail only through a routine you create. Cursor's help adds: "By default, the routine only runs for mail from senders that pass standard email authentication checks." And: "Routines can't filter by subject." Check that your routine watches the right sender or domain. Our routines not working guide covers the rest.

  • On a team: is Agent Email turned on?

Cursor's help says: "For Cursor teams, agent email is off by default." An admin turns it on in the Cursor dashboard under Bot Capabilities. If an admin turns it off later, Bots lose their email tools and email routines stop, but mail sent to existing addresses is still received and kept. xAI's changelog says that when Agent email is off for your team or account, the Bot says so instead of calling it a temporary problem.

  • Check the status page

Cursor's help says: "Check status.cursor.com and look at the Grok Bot row." And: "The app doesn't show service status, so the status page is the place to check." If it shows an incident, wait for it to be resolved, and don't Reset the computer or reinstall the app, because neither fixes a service problem. On 20 Oct 2026 the page also posted a notice: "Cursor status updates are moving to status.x.ai". You can subscribe to updates there.

  • Contact support with the right details

Cursor's help says to email hi@cursor.com and include the email on your Grok Bot account, your Grok Bot version and platform, what you were trying to do, a screenshot and what you've tried. Add the request ID if the menu offers it: right-click the Bot's message and choose Copy request ID. For mail problems, also give the sender address of your test, the time you sent it with your time zone, and its subject.

  • Meanwhile, keep important mail on your own inbox

Don't wait on the Bot's address for anything urgent. Connect your own Gmail or Outlook and point sign-ups and logins there. xAI's Grok Bot 101 says: "You can connect multiple accounts per service, so I can look through personal and work email". Our Grok Bot email address guide covers what the Bot's address is good for.

  • Start from a template, not a blank page

xAI's Use cases page lists 56 jobs and its official Marketplace lists 90 public templates, as of 20 Oct 2026 (our Grok Bot template stats page). Our templates page has drafts-first versions with copy-ready prompts, and our free What should my bot do? planner picks a first job for a business.

Example: Grok Bot setup

Grok Bot routine: Inbox triage with drafted replies
Schedule: Twice daily 9:00 and 15:00

Twice a day, go through new emails. Label each as Reply, FYI or Ignore. For Reply, write a draft in my voice (short, friendly, direct) and save it as a draft, never send. Send me a list of drafts to approve and any FYIs worth knowing.

Rules: draft first, never send or post anything external without my approval. Keep summaries short.

What should you check, in order?

  1. Ask your Bot for its exact address and copy it.
  2. Send a plain test with no attachments from another account and note the time.
  3. After a few minutes, ask the Bot to search for mail from that sender.
  4. Check status.cursor.com, and on a team, that Agent Email is on.
  5. Email hi@cursor.com with the test details and a request ID.

What shouldn't you do while you wait?

  • Don't Reset the Bot's computer or reinstall the app for a service problem. Cursor's help says neither fixes it.
  • Don't make the Bot's address the login for your bank, payroll or anything you can't afford to lose.
  • Keep a connected Gmail or Outlook as the fallback for sign-up links and customer mail.
  • Never paste a password or one-time code in chat. Sign in yourself with Take over, then choose I'm done (xAI's Approvals docs).
  • Start in draft mode: the agent prepares, you approve, then you loosen the leash routine by routine.

FAQ

"Any Grok Bot users who have a Bot email not getting emails? Mine hasn't received any since Friday.."

Send a plain test from another account, ask your Bot to search for it, then check status.cursor.com. If the test never shows up and there's no incident, email hi@cursor.com with the test's sender, time and subject.

"Sign-up links, invites and even a plain test from my Gmail never arrive, with no bounce."

We don't know the cause, and no official page we checked describes an incident. Contact Cursor support with your test details, and use your own connected Gmail or Outlook for sign-ups until it's fixed.

Is Grok Bot email down?

Check status.cursor.com and look at the Grok Bot row. Cursor says the app doesn't show service status. On 20 Oct 2026 the page said status updates are moving to status.x.ai.

Why doesn't my Bot tell me when email arrives?

There's no inbox view and no new-mail notification. Ask your Bot what arrived, or set up a routine for the senders you care about (Cursor help).

Why didn't my email routine run?

By default a routine only runs for senders that pass standard email authentication checks, routines can't filter by subject, and mail that fails the spam or virus scan never starts one (Cursor help).

What should I send Cursor support?

Your account email, Grok Bot version and platform, a screenshot, what you tried, a request ID if there is one, and your test's sender, time and subject.
