Grok Bot email address: claim yours at mail.grokbot.com and use it safely

Updated · by Rosh Perera

Your Grok Bot can have its own email address, such as yourname@mail.grokbot.com, separate from your Gmail or Outlook. Your Bots can receive, read, search and send email from it, and with drafts on, nothing sends until you press Send. Here's how to claim one, how to choose the name (you get one, and it can't be changed), and three small-business jobs to give it first. Grok Bot facts come from Cursor's Grok Bot help and xAI's changelog, checked 19 Oct 2026. Not sure which job to start with? Our free What should my bot do? planner picks three in 5 quick questions. We're an independent site, not part of xAI.

What to hand to an agent first

  • Claim it by asking your Bot

Say something like "Get yourself an email address." The Bot asks what name you want, checks that it's free and shows an approval card. Nothing is claimed until you approve. You can also use the Email plugin: on desktop, open Connect apps in the sidebar and choose Email; on the phone, open Settings > Connect apps > Email. Type a name under Choose a name, then choose Create address (Grok Bot help: Bot email). If you use Grok Bot through a Cursor team, a team admin has to turn on Agent Email first.

  • Choose the name carefully: you get one, for good

You can have one address, and you can't rename it or delete it (Grok Bot help: Bot email). Use lowercase letters, digits, dots, hyphens and underscores, start and end with a letter or digit, and use at most 64 characters. Reserved words such as support, admin, billing, help, info and team aren't allowed. A plain name tied to your business or the Bot's job ages better than a joke. The address belongs to you, not to one Bot, so all your Bots can use it in your own chats with them and in routines you set up.

  • Know what it won't do on its own

There's no inbox view in the apps and no notification for new mail, so ask your Bot, for example "What arrived in your inbox today?" New mail doesn't start a chat or wake a Bot on its own; a Bot acts on incoming mail only through a routine you create. Sending depends on drafts. xAI's changelog for 14 Oct 2026 says: "After you choose Disable drafts for a Bot, it sends email from its own address right away, without a draft card." Cursor's Bot email help still says, as of 20 Oct 2026: "There's no option for unattended sending." The two official sources disagree. With drafts on, your Bot shows you the full draft and nothing sends until you press Send. Keep drafts on, and always keep them on for customer email.

  • First job: sign-ups and verification codes

When the Bot signs up for a service for you, such as a supplier portal or a tool trial, have it use its own address. It can pick up the verification code or link with your OK (Grok Bot help: Bot email), and your personal inbox stays out of it. Keep anything that handles money or customer data on your own login.

  • Second job: receipts and reports in one place

Send receipts, supplier newsletters and reports to the Bot's address and ask for a weekly summary. A routine can watch for mail from anyone, from specific addresses or from a whole domain, such as *@example.com. By default it only runs for mail from senders that pass standard email authentication checks, and routines can't filter by subject (Grok Bot help: Bot email). Our monthly bookkeeping template turns the receipts into a summary for your accountant.

  • Third job: drafted updates and replies

Have the Bot draft a digest or an update and draft replies; you approve each one before it sends (Grok Bot help: Bot email). If you've also connected Gmail or Outlook, your Bot asks which account to send from when either could work. Our inbox triage template and daily approval list template keep the drafts in one place.

  • Expect limits that protect the address

Newsletters and first-contact emails go to one recipient per message and include a one-click unsubscribe link. If a message bounces, or someone unsubscribes or marks it as spam, your Bot stops emailing that address and tells you who it skipped. There are also limits on how many new people a Bot can email (Grok Bot help: Bot email). Use the address for your own admin, not cold outreach.

Example: Grok Bot setup

Grok Bot routine: Inbox triage with drafted replies
Schedule: Twice daily 9:00 and 15:00

Twice a day, go through new emails. Label each as Reply, FYI or Ignore. For Reply, write a draft in my voice (short, friendly, direct) and save it as a draft, never send. Send me a list of drafts to approve and any FYIs worth knowing.

Rules: draft first, never send or post anything external without my approval. Keep summaries short.

Setup steps

  1. Ask your Bot: "Get yourself an email address."
  2. Pick a plain business name that follows the name rules, then approve the card. You can't change it later.
  3. Send one test email to the address, then ask the Bot what arrived in its inbox.
  4. Create one routine for one sender, such as a supplier's billing address, that summarises new mail for you.
  5. Run it for a week and read every summary before you add a second job.

Keep these human

  • Anyone can send email to the address. Your Bot treats email from other people as information, not instructions, and instructions inside an email never count as your permission to send (Grok Bot help: Bot email). Still read every draft before you press Send.
  • Bots can't use your address in Slack threads or in chats where someone else is talking to the Bot, and a Team Bot doesn't have a shared team address (Grok Bot help: Bot email).
  • Don't make the Bot's address the login for your bank, payroll or anything you can't afford to lose access to. Use your own email for those.
  • If you delete your Grok Bot account, your mail and attachments are deleted, and the address is retired and never given to anyone else (Grok Bot help: Bot email).
  • Start in draft mode: the agent prepares, you approve, then you loosen the leash routine by routine.

FAQ

Does Grok Bot have its own email address?

Yes. You can claim one address at mail.grokbot.com, such as yourname@mail.grokbot.com, and your Bots can receive, read, search and send email from it (Grok Bot help: Bot email). The Grok Bot changelog lists Bot email addresses in its 11 Oct 2026 entry.

Can I change or delete my Grok Bot email address?

No. You can have one address, and you can't rename it or delete it. Once someone claims an address, it's never given to anyone else (Grok Bot help: Bot email). Choose the name carefully.

Will my Grok Bot send email without asking me?

Not with drafts on. xAI's changelog for 14 Oct 2026 says: "After you choose Disable drafts for a Bot, it sends email from its own address right away, without a draft card." Cursor's help says, as of 20 Oct 2026: "There's no option for unattended sending." The two disagree, so keep drafts on, and always for customer email.

Why can't I claim an address?

Cursor's help lists the usual causes: agent email isn't available on your account yet, your team admin has turned it off, the name is taken (addresses are never reissued), the name breaks the name rules, or you already have an address. Too many checks in one minute also blocks it briefly (Grok Bot help: Bot email).

Is this the same as connecting my Gmail?

No. Connecting Gmail lets your Bot work in your own inbox. The Bot's address is separate, so sign-ups and receipts don't touch your personal mail. Our Gmail guide covers that connector.
