Just outside the top 12: documents, forms and paperwork (21). A morning brief, which our own guides often suggest first, came up in only 12 replies.
- A chief of staff bot running a bot team is a setup more than a single job. It stays because people describe it as the thing they set up first.
- Starting or running a small business is broad. It overlaps with money, leads and websites.

- 482 human replies, with posts by @bot, @grok and @poteto left out. Each reply was labelled against 22 job categories using fixed keyword rules, and counts once per job.
- Hand check: 30 random replies labelled by hand. The label sets matched exactly on 23 (76.7%), and coded vs uncoded agreed on 27 (90.0%).
- Supporting signal only, not part of the ranking: in our log of 635 posts with pains and questions, email comes up in 81 and small business in 161. Those are mentions inside complaints and questions, not jobs, so they aren't comparable with the counts above.
Limits
- Not a random sample. It's one viral thread, and the people who answer it are a self-selected, keen and often technical crowd.
- About half the thread. We read 482 of roughly 912 replies, pulled on the morning of 20 Oct 2026 (Colombo time). Later replies aren't in it.
- Keyword coding. A fixed list of words and phrases per job decides the labels, so it misses other languages, sarcasm and replies that only link to a demo, and it over-counts long list replies.
- The codebook was tuned on this same data, so the hand check below isn't fully independent.
- Mentioning a job isn't the same as it being the first job. The thread asked what people got done last week, so these are early jobs.
