Grok Bot and iMessage: what Mac 0.77 reports say (and what official docs do not)
Updated · by Rosh Perera
People are searching whether Grok Bot can text over iMessage. Here is the honest split on **27 Oct 2026** Asia/Colombo: **Official docs:** The Grok Bot changelog at https://x.ai/changelog/bot is still **Latest v0.75.8 (24 Oct 2026)** - Auto-review rule cards and smarter connectors.
Want every routine written out? The pack is $29 one time, plus local tax where it applies. See what's inside →
It has **no 0.77 entry**, **no iMessage entry**, and **no Messages on Mac setup page**. Cursor's Connect apps help covers Gmail, Notion, Slack, 1Password, the Email app, and similar connectors - not an iMessage how-to we found when checked the same day. **Community / product replies:** Some Mac owners say Grok Bot **0.77** lets them text a Bot over iMessage or RCS, and read or send from Messages on Mac, alongside Calls with a live transcript and booking in chat (personal and watcher posts, 27 Oct 2026). A 24 Oct prerelease note said a Messages on Mac setup screen under Connect Apps was **still switched off**. A Grok reply in an earlier thread said phone apps / Messages may appear on iOS and that **full iMessage support is not included in this update**. Treat every one of those lines as **not a changelog**. So: demand is real, a Mac 0.77 texting path may be rolling out **per account**, and you should not plan a business on "full iMessage" until help or the changelog says so. Key points
- Official changelog is still **v0.75.8** - no 0.77 / iMessage / Messages entry (checked 27 Oct 2026).
- Community Mac posts describe texting a Bot over **iMessage or RCS**, and using **Messages on Mac** to read/send - labeled community only.
- Prerelease (24 Oct): Messages on Mac under Connect Apps was reported **still switched off**.
- Grok reply: **full iMessage support is not included in this update** (thread reply; not a help page).
- Same 0.77 wave talks about Calls + live transcript and booking in chat - see our phone-calls and book-or-buy guides; those also stay honesty-locked.
- Small-business uses only make sense after the control appears on **your** account: text a lead note to your Bot, ask it to draft a reply, or kick a booking research job from Messages - always with Ask first for sends that leave your devices.
Don't see it yet? (0.77 / iMessage / Messages)
If Connect Apps has no Messages / iMessage control, or you updated and still see nothing, you are probably not broken. Three honesty lines still hold on 28 Oct 2026 Asia/Colombo:
1. Official changelog is still v0.75.8 (24 Oct 2026) at https://x.ai/changelog/bot - Auto-review rule cards. There is still no public 0.77 entry and no iMessage / Messages setup entry on that page when we re-checked.
2. 0.77 features look staggered and per-account, not "everyone on the same build gets the same controls." Community Mac posts say Calls, live transcript, and text-over-iMessage/RCS can appear for some accounts and stay missing for others on the same version string (TeslaInvest2032 27 Oct; alexmichaelio rollout notes).
3. Messages / iMessage reports are Mac-framed. Community setup talk points at the Mac desktop app and Connect Apps. We have no official page that says iPhone alone is enough for Bot-over-iMessage. Prefer Mac + Connect Apps until help docs say more.
What to do: Update the Mac Grok Bot app once, open Connect Apps, look for Messages / iMessage. If it is missing, greyed out, or "switched off," wait for another app update and re-check the changelog - do not rebuild a customer workflow on a viral screenshot. Full iMessage support was explicitly not claimed in a Grok product reply for this update wave. For mail that must work today, use documented Connect apps (Gmail / Outlook / Email app).
What is confirmed, what is community, and what to do on your Mac
What official pages say today (27 Oct 2026)
Open https://x.ai/changelog/bot. Latest public Grok Bot release note we found: v0.75.8 (24 Oct 2026). No iMessage, Messages, or 0.77 section. Cursor Connect apps help explains how to add apps from Connect apps - it does not document iMessage. Prefer those pages over social screenshots when you decide what is shipped.
What community Mac 0.77 posts claim (label only)
Community Mac posts (thecsguy, alexmichaelio, TeslaInvest2032, 27 Oct) claim 0.77 texting over iMessage or RCS and Messages on Mac under Connect Apps. A 24 Oct prerelease post said Messages on Mac setup was still switched off. Capabilities can change before help pages catch up. Do not invent menu names beyond Connect Apps / Messages on Mac as those posts used them.
Full iMessage vs a partial text path
A Grok reply said full iMessage support is not included in this update. Read that as a limit, not a promise of a later date. Until changelog/help document the feature, assume: some accounts may see a text path; blue-bubble full iMessage product behavior is not something we will claim.
Check your own account before you rebuild a workflow
Update the Grok Bot desktop app on Mac; note the version if shown. Open Connect Apps and look for Messages / iMessage / texting. If missing, greyed out, or switched off, you do not have it yet. Keep Ask first / Auto-review on for anything that sends a message to a customer.
Three small-business uses (only after the control appears for you)
Lead catch: forward or type a new lead into a chat with your Bot from Messages; ask it to log the name, ask, and next step. Draft, you send: ask for a short reply; you paste or approve the send. Booking research: ask the Bot to gather options in chat; final pay and confirm stay on Ask first / Take over.

Built-in Calls are on /guides/grok-bot-phone-calls - including honesty that changelog still lacks a Calls setup entry and that 0.77 Calls can be missing per account. What the Bot can and can't book or buy is /guides/grok-bot-book-or-buy. Do not treat a viral Mac screenshot as a setup manual.

What should you keep in mind?
- Do not paste card numbers, OTPs, or medical details into a group thread the Bot can read.
- Voice chat (you talking to your Bot) is not iMessage and not outbound Calls.
- Usage still draws from your weekly pool when the Bot works (Plans help). Noisy always-on text monitors can burn a week - pause or widen routines (Routines help). Run our usage check if the week feels short.

FAQ
Can Grok Bot text me over iMessage today?
Official changelog/help had no iMessage setup entry on 27 Oct 2026 (still v0.75.8). Some Mac owners report a 0.77 text path over iMessage or RCS. Check Connect Apps on your account; if it is missing or off, you do not have it yet.
Is full iMessage support in this update?
A Grok reply said full iMessage support is not included in this update. We follow that limit until an official help or changelog page says otherwise.
Do I need the Mac app?
Community posts about Messages on Mac and Connect Apps setup are Mac-desktop framed. We have no official page that says iPhone alone is enough for Bot-over-iMessage. Prefer the Mac app + Connect Apps check until docs say more.
I installed 0.77 and see nothing under Messages. Broken install?
Not necessarily. See the Don't see it yet? box above: official changelog is still v0.75.8, and 0.77 features look staggered / Mac-framed / per-account. Wait for another update, re-check Connect Apps, and watch x.ai/changelog/bot. We do not invent a fix date.
Should I use iMessage or the Email app / Gmail connector instead?
For business mail that must work today, use documented Connect apps (Gmail, Outlook) or the Bot Email app path. Use iMessage/RCS only after it appears for you and you have Ask first rules for outbound sends.
