Grok Bot for a Microsoft 365 business

Updated · by Rosh Perera

Grok Bot can work alongside Microsoft 365, but it is not a Microsoft product, and we don't promise it replaces Copilot. What you can set up today: connect Outlook from Connect apps and send only drafts you approve, and start routines from Microsoft Teams messages once the Cursor app can read the channel.

Many US businesses run on Microsoft 365 and already pay for Copilot, then ask whether Grok Bot belongs at work (user report, 26 Oct 2026). Grok Bot is not a Microsoft product. What you can document today: connect Outlook from Connect apps and send with drafts you approve (our connect-Outlook guide; xAI changelog cited there); Microsoft Teams message triggers for routines after the Cursor app can read the channel (our Teams guide; Cursor staff forum notes cited there); and a separate comparison page for Copilot vs Grok Bot on this site. This page is the workplace map - not a promise to replace Copilot overnight. Our free Grok Bot usage check ranks which Bots and routines are most likely eating your week. Facts checked 27 Oct 2026 against those LIVE guides plus Cursor Connect / FAQs patterns. We're an independent site, not part of xAI, Cursor, or Microsoft.

Key points

  • Outlook: - Connect apps > Outlook; draft in chat; you choose Send email (connect-outlook guide).
  • Teams: - routines can start from a Teams message when the Cursor app has channel permission; @Cursor Cloud Agent path is separate from your Bot routine (Teams guide).
  • Copilot can stay: - different product for M365-native chat inside Microsoft apps. Use Copilot where your tenant already standardizes it; use Grok Bot for multi-app routines, drafts across tools, and scheduled work outside a single Microsoft pane (see our grok-bot-vs-microsoft-copilot guide for the comparison slice).
  • IT / admin gates are real: - Disabled by team admin on connectors; Microsoft admin prompts; resource-specific consent for Teams (Outlook + Teams guides). We do not invent full Intune/SCIM steps that are not on those pages.
  • Shared computer + Vault: - work mailboxes and cards are available to every Bot on the account once connected (Connect / Secrets patterns). Split personal vs work with labeled accounts when the app allows Add Another Account (Outlook guide).

A practical M365 starter week

  • Day 1 - Connect work Outlook, draft only

Connect apps > Outlook > Authorize with the work account. Ask for one draft to yourself; do not send customer mail yet (connect-outlook).

  • Day 2 - Inbox triage drafts

Twice-daily routine: label Reply / FYI / Ignore, draft replies, never send (example on connect-outlook). Keep Ask first for email (approvals guide).

  • Day 3 - Calendar-aware morning brief (read-only)

If Calendar is connected for your account, ask for a read-only day plan in chat. No meeting creates until you trust drafts.

  • Day 4 - Teams only if your channels need it

Follow our Teams guide: team owner adds Cursor app; link your Teams account; prefer @mentioning the Bot's Teams identity over bare @Cursor for routine starts. Add a modest scheduled backstop, not a 5-minute forever loop that burns the week (Teams guide; Routines help).

  • Day 5 - Write the workplace boundary

Memory: never send external mail, post in Teams, or buy anything without Ask first. Money, legal, and HR stay human.

  • Check usage before you add hourly Teams listeners

Busy channels burn fast (Routines help). Run our free usage check after the first scheduled week.

SharePoint says Turned off by team admin, but you're on a personal plan

An owner reported this on X on 30 Oct 2026. @allanmelsen saw SharePoint marked Turned off by team admin and wrote: "I'm not on a team license, so there's no admin to turn anything off." That's a user report. We couldn't confirm the cause, and we found no xAI or Cursor page that uses those exact words (checked 30 Oct 2026).

What the docs do say: an app your team's connector policy blocks shows Disabled by team admin, and Cursor's Connect apps help says: "If you use Grok Bot through a Cursor team, your Cursor team admin controls which apps are available." The only SharePoint setup the docs describe is a Cursor team admin connecting it from the Cursor dashboard's Integrations page, after which each member signs in with their own Microsoft account. We found no doc on SharePoint for a personal plan.

What to try: 1. Open Connect apps and check SharePoint's status. 2. If you belong to a Cursor team, even an old one, ask its admin whether SharePoint is turned on. 3. On a work or school Microsoft account, a Microsoft admin may need to consent: xAI's docs note that most work or school tenants need a Microsoft admin to consent once to Sites.Read.All for SharePoint. 4. If none of that applies, report it.

What to send support: in the desktop app, open the account menu and choose Support, then Send Feedback, with the conversation ID included. Or email support@x.ai from the email on your Grok Bot account. Include your plan, the Grok Bot version (Support, then About, then Copy version info), and a screenshot of the SharePoint card (xAI's Troubleshooting docs).

Example: Grok Bot setup

Grok Bot routine: CEO morning brief in 5 minutes
Schedule: Daily 7:30

Every morning, read my calendar for today, my unread emails from the last 24h and yesterday's revenue. Send me a brief: (1) meetings with one prep note each, (2) emails that need my reply with a suggested one-line answer, (3) money in/out, (4) the 3 highest-leverage tasks for today. Keep it under 200 words.

Rules: draft first, never send or post anything external without my approval. Keep summaries short.

What should you keep in mind?

  • Every Bot on the account can use a connected Outlook mailbox (Connect help pattern on connect-outlook). Remove the app if a Bot should not touch work mail.
  • Do not paste Microsoft passwords or OTPs in chat.
  • We do not claim Grok Bot is approved on every Microsoft 365 tenant. Your admin can block apps.
  • Copilot license questions are Microsoft billing, not Grok Bot Plans.

FAQ

We're a Microsoft shop on Copilot. Why add Grok Bot?

Copilot lives inside Microsoft's apps. Grok Bot adds scheduled multi-app routines, Outlook drafts you approve, and work across tools that are not only M365 (see vs-Copilot guide). Many teams keep both.

Can Grok Bot send from our work Outlook?

Yes when Outlook is connected and you approve Send email on the draft (connect-outlook; xAI changelog cited there). Keep drafts on for customer mail.

Will it read our Teams channels?

Only after the Cursor app is allowed to read those channel messages and your account is linked for routine triggers (Teams guide). Plain posts can miss instant triggers; use a scheduled backstop carefully.

What does IT need to approve?

Microsoft sign-in for Outlook; for Teams, app permission / resource-specific consent as in our Teams guide. If sign-in is blocked, send support the screenshot rather than inventing a portal walkthrough we cannot source.
