How Grok Bot referral usage reset works (official terms)

Grok Bot on The X Subscription has a referral program: invite a friend with your link, they start a Premium trial with a card, and when they become a paid subscriber you can earn a free usage reset (docs.x.ai Refer friends to Grok Bot; Referral Program Terms).

This page quotes those official docs and terms only. We invent no extra rules from X posts. Public owner talk about referrals is labeled as talk, not product terms. Resets are rolling out gradually on some accounts (Cursor referral-program help).   • Where a reset shows: once using resets is enabled for your account: Settings > Usage as a Usage Limit Reset (and dashboard Usage resets) per Cursor FAQs / referral-program help. Refund or dispute removes the pending reward; rewards have no cash value; the program may change, pause, or end (docs.x.ai; Program Terms).

Refer correctly without inventing rules

  • Confirm you are eligible before you share

    Paid Premium, Super, or Ultra on The X Subscription; US-based; at least 7 days since checkout; web billing with a card, not App Store / Google Play IAP (docs.x.ai; Program Terms). Plus / Team / legacy Cursor or SuperGrok cannot refer today.

  • Copy the link from the official surfaces

    Gift icon in Grok Bot (mobile top right of a chat; desktop bottom left next to Connect apps) or grok.com/dashboard/referrals (docs.x.ai). If you meet the rules and still do not see it, Cursor help says the program is rolling out gradually - there is nothing to turn on.

  • Tell your friend what they get - from docs only

    2-week free trial of Premium; card required at checkout; reminder 7 days before the first charge so they can cancel (docs.x.ai). Do not invent a longer trial or cash rebate.

  • Wait for paid + hold, then check Usage

    Reward shows pending when they become a paid subscriber; reset is added 7 days after payment (docs.x.ai; Program Terms hold period). Cancel during trial = no reward. Refund / dispute removes pending reward. Each reset is valid 6 months after added. Once enabled on your account, look under Settings > Usage for Usage Limit Reset (Cursor help).

  • Public share needs a clear disclosure

    Program Terms say if you share publicly you must disclose that you get a reward if someone subscribes (example in the terms: "I get a reward if you subscribe"). Do not spam, buy brand-name ads to your link, or post on coupon / cashback sites (Program Terms section 7).

  • Plan the week after a reset the same way you plan any week

    A reset restores included usage for the current period as the product describes (Program Terms). It does not invent a larger Absolute pool. What should you keep in mind?

  • Quote docs.x.ai and the Referral Program Terms. Do not treat X posts as eligibility rules.
  • Cursor's older Cursor-plan referral program is discontinued and separate; the gift icon in Grok Bot is the Grok Bot program (Cursor referral-program help).
  • No cash value. No selling links or rewards. Program may change, pause, or end.
  • IAP (App Store / Google Play) does not count for the friend path today.
  • No income claims. A referral reset is not a revenue plan.

Does App Store or Google Play checkout count?

No. In-app purchases through Apple or Google are not part of the referral program right now. Friends need your referral link and a card at web checkout (docs.x.ai).

Can I get cash instead of a usage reset?
