What happens to my Grok Bots when I combine two Cursor accounts?

Your Bots move to the primary account and keep working, but some setup stays behind on the other account. xAI's docs say the combined accounts' items come over as "Your Grok Bots, with the same bot IDs." with their chats, memory and routines, while settings, the Bot email address and MCP setup stay put. "Combining accounts is permanent." (xAI's Cancel docs), so back up and review before you confirm. Checked 21 Oct 2026 against docs.x.ai. We're an independent site, not part of xAI.

What moves, what stays and what gets replaced?

  • What owners are reporting

    These are user reports: one owner wrote "Reconnected this morning, and all my bots are gone." (bots gone report), and another said "my grok bot account has been wiped for 5 days" after the merge (merge report). xAI's docs say "If combining stops partway, no Grok Bot data is deleted, but some of it may stay on the other account until combining finishes." If that happens, they say to contact Support.

  • What comes over to the primary account

    From xAI's I have more than one Cursor account docs: your Bots with the same IDs; Grok Bot chats, tasks, memory, routines and rooms; meetings and transcripts; per-bot usage; Grok Bot files and agent stores. "Account collapse combines the eligible Cursor accounts shown in the flow into the selected primary account."

  • What replaces the primary account's

    Where both accounts have the same item, the incoming one replaces it: skills, Grok Bot proactivity settings, the Grok Bot avatar and the Grok Bot computer. "Anything only one account has is kept."

  • What stays on the other account

    Grok Bot settings, the Grok Bot email address and inbox, Grok Bot MCP setup, the Grok Bot form vault, and Grok Bot templates and attachments stay behind. "Your primary account keeps its own Grok Bot settings and setup." So after combining, re-add MCP servers and check which email address your Bots use.

  • Before you confirm

    1. Back up rules, skills and routines first (our backup guide). 2. Start from the Unify option or cursor.com/unify and read the data summary. 3. Grok Bot routine: One daily list of drafts to approve
Schedule: Weekdays 16:00 (or Fridays 16:00 for a weekly list)

You keep my approval list. My other bots and you only write drafts. Nothing goes to a customer, a supplier, my staff or the public until I approve it here. Every weekday at 4pm, collect every draft waiting for me: emails, Slack messages, calendar changes and invites, social posts and quotes. Send me one list, numbered, oldest first. For each draft show: who it goes to, what it's about in one line, the full text, and why it was written. Then wait for my answer. I'll reply with the number and one word. Approve: send or post exactly that draft, then tell me it's done and where it went. Edit: make my change, show me the new version, and wait for approve again. Reject: don't send it, and note why so the same kind of draft gets better. If I don't answer, nothing goes out. Keep the draft and put it at the top of tomorrow's list.
