Where are the Google Docs and Sheets connectors in Grok Bot?

Updated · by Rosh Perera

Dedicated Google Docs and Google Sheets connectors showed briefly in early August 2026, then were pulled. Marketplace search for those names returned Drive and Calendar instead. As of 26 Oct 2026, Cursor Connect apps help documents a Sheets app that can read and edit cells, while finding and opening files uses Drive.

Docs body write through Drive remains the living gap. Our free Grok Bot usage check ranks which of your Bots and routines are most likely eating your week, with a fix prompt for each, right in your browser. Facts come from Cursor staff on forum 169971 and Connect apps help checked today. We're an independent site, not part of xAI or Cursor.

Key points

  • Staff on the pull: Colin (30-31 Aug 2026, forum 169971) said dedicated Docs and Sheets connectors "were briefly available in early August, but they were pulled" while finishing details; in-place editing lives in those connectors, not Drive.
  • Marketplace empty for Docs/Sheets names (Aug 2026): OP confirmed searching "Google Docs" / "Google Sheets" returned Drive/Calendar only, not dedicated editors.
  • No ETA: Colin (8 Sep 2026): "No ETA".
  • Sheets wording today (official help, 26 Oct 2026): "Connecting Sheets lets the bot read and edit cells in spreadsheets the connected Google account can edit." "Finding and opening files uses the Google Drive app." "Editing cell content uses Google Sheets." A Viewer share stays view-only.
  • Docs body still separate: forum and X still report that Drive does not rewrite an existing Doc body; `create_file` mints a new Doc. Do not claim Docs marketplace connector is back without a Connect apps or staff update.

What should you search for, and what works anyway?

  • Search Connect apps for Drive, Sheets, Docs, Calendar, Gmail

In Grok Bot, open Connect apps and search those names. Install what appears, then Authorize. If Docs still does not appear as its own app, treat Drive + workarounds as current for Docs files, and do not invent a connector.

  • Use Drive to find and open; Sheets to edit cells

Follow Connect apps help: Drive for finding and opening files the account can open; Sheets for editing cell content when Sheets is connected and the account can edit. Our connect-google-drive and connect-google-sheets guides cover the install path without rewriting those pages here.

  • Do not confuse marketplace pull history with today's Sheets help

Forum Oct 10 follow-ups still describe in-place Sheets pain and download-replace workflows. Prefer official Connect apps help for what the Sheets app can do when connected. If your Bot only clicks Sheets in the browser, see our Sheets login guide.

  • Docs living-file workaround while the Docs connector is gone

Keep one Doc ID for humans. Draft with the Workspace add-on in the open file, or paste from Bot chat into the Doc yourself. Avoid routines that `create_file` a replacement Doc when bookmarks must stay stable. Details: our can't-edit-existing-Doc guide.

  • Admin or team blocks are a different failure

Connect apps help: a Cursor team admin can disable apps; a Google admin may need to trust Grok before Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, or Slides finishes signing in. "Disabled by team admin" is not the same as a missing marketplace listing.

  • Recheck before you redesign a whole stack

Staff hoped to bring dedicated connectors back and gave no date. Recheck Connect apps and forum 169971 before you buy a third-party bridge or rebuild on browser click-through.

What should you keep in mind?

    • Competitor pages that only cite the August pull may be stale on Sheets cells. Prefer Connect apps help dated by your own check.
    • Sheets cell edit (official) is not Docs body write (still broken per forum/X).
    • Our older connect-google-sheets guide remains the setup page; this guide is the "why is it missing / what changed" page. Link it, do not duplicate the full setup.

Where are the Google Docs and Sheets connectors in Grok Bot?

Staff said dedicated Docs/Sheets connectors were briefly available in early August 2026 and were pulled (forum 169971). As of 26 Oct 2026, Connect apps help documents Sheets cell edit and Drive for find/open. Docs as a dedicated marketplace connector was still reported missing after the pull.

Can Grok Bot edit Google Sheets cells today?

Connect apps help says yes when Sheets is connected and the Google account can edit the spreadsheet. Viewer shares stay view-only. Finding the file uses Drive.

Can Grok Bot edit an existing Google Doc body through Drive?

Users and X still report no. See our can't-edit-existing-Doc guide. Staff said in-place Docs editing belongs in the Docs connector that was pulled, with no ETA.

Why does marketplace search only show Drive and Calendar?

That matches the Aug 2026 report after the pull. Recheck Connect apps yourself; listings can change. We do not invent what your search must return tomorrow.

Is there an ETA for Docs/Sheets connectors?

Colin said no ETA on 8 Sep 2026. We do not invent one.
