What can Grok Bot do? Plain examples for a small business
Updated · by Rosh Perera
Short answer: Grok Bot is an app that gives you AI teammates, called Bots, that do jobs instead of just chatting. xAI says a Bot can sign in to your tools, use them the way you do and come back with finished work, and that it comes back when your approval is needed (x.ai). You use it from the desktop app on macOS, Windows or Linux, or the phone app on iOS or Android 9 or later (xAI's FAQ). For a small business, that means jobs like a morning summary of your day, reply drafts for your inbox and check-ins for quotes that went quiet. You approve each draft before anything goes out. It works on a cloud computer
Your Bots work on a cloud computer that xAI runs, with a browser, files and apps. A Bot signs in to your email, calendar and the websites you use, and keeps working when your laptop is closed (x.ai). All your Bots share that one computer, so a site one Bot is signed in to, the others can reach too (Grok Bot 101, xAI's FAQ). Our connectors list shows which apps connect.
It runs jobs on a schedule, or learns by watching
A Bot can run a routine every morning or every Friday, or start when something happens in another app (Grok Bot 101). Where Teach a task is available, you can also show it a browser task once, and it turns that into a draft skill you review and test before you schedule it. xAI says this may roll out gradually (xAI's FAQ, Skills and routines docs). That's what turns it from a chat into a helper. Our Grok and Grok Bot comparison sets the two apps side by side.
It drafts, you approve
A Bot can write emails, texts, quotes and posts in your voice. Tell it to draft only. You approve, edit or reject each draft, and nothing goes out without your OK. Letting one bot send on its own is an optional upgrade for later, once you've stopped editing its drafts.
What that looks like in a small business
A 7:30 message with today's jobs, emails that need you and overdue invoices. Reply drafts for new inquiries, waiting for your OK. A Friday list of quotes that went quiet, each with a check-in drafted. A review ask after each finished job, on a list you approve once a day. For what people on X say they use it for, see what people use Grok Bot for. For real businesses using AI agents, each linked to its public source, see our case studies.
Your first 3 bots
1. A morning summary. It only reads, so it's the safest start (our estimate: about 3 hours a week saved). 2. Inbox triage with reply drafts you approve (estimate: about 5 hours a week). 3. Follow-ups for leads that went quiet, drafted for your OK (estimate: about 4 hours a week). These hours are our library's estimates, not measurements. Run a trade? Our trade pages have a first 3 for plumbers, HVAC, electricians, cleaners, landscapers and restaurants.
A 7-day start
Day 1: make one Bot and give it the morning summary. Day 2: fix its format until you'd read it every day. Day 3: connect email and turn on reply drafts. Day 4: write your rules: draft only; money, complaints and anything legal come to me. Day 5: add the quiet-leads follow-up. Day 6: approve, edit or reject every draft, and add each edit to the bot's instructions. Day 7: keep, change or drop each bot, then pick the next one.

Ready-made use cases
- 01CEO morning brief in 5 minutes
One message each morning: calendar, urgent emails, money in/out, and the 3 things that move the business today.
~3h/week · estimate - 02Inbox triage with drafted replies
The agent sorts your inbox into reply / FYI / ignore and drafts replies in your voice for you to approve.
~5h/week · estimate - 03Never miss a lead follow-up
The agent checks your CRM or inbox for leads that went quiet and drafts the next follow-up.
~4h/week · estimate - 04Ask every customer for a review, with your OK on each day's list
After each completed job the agent drafts the same friendly review request, with your Google link, for every customer. You approve the day's list in one go, then it sends. It flags any complaint that comes back to you.
~2h/week · estimate - 05One daily list of drafts to approve
Your bots hold every email, message and post they write as a draft. Once a day (or once a week) you get one numbered list and answer approve, edit or reject for each. Nothing goes out unapproved.

Example: Grok Bot setup
Grok Bot routine: CEO morning brief in 5 minutes Schedule: Daily 7:30 Every morning, read my calendar for today, my unread emails from the last 24h and yesterday's revenue. Send me a brief: (1) meetings with one prep note each, (2) emails that need my reply with a suggested one-line answer, (3) money in/out, (4) the 3 highest-leverage tasks for today. Keep it under 200 words. Rules: draft first, never send or post anything external without my approval. Keep summaries short.

Setup steps
- Check your plan. Grok Bot comes with Premium, Super and Ultra, older paid Cursor plans and Cursor Teams, or a linked SuperGrok or X Premium+ account, and Enterprise access is rolling out (Grok Bot help: Plans and billing, xAI's FAQ).
- Download the desktop app or the iOS or Android app and sign in with that plan.
- Make one Bot with one job. A morning summary is the safest start because it only reads.
- Connect only the apps that job needs. Tell it: draft only, nothing sends without my OK.
- Run it for a week, add every edit to its instructions, then add the second bot.
Keep these human
- Prices, refunds, contracts and anything public stay with you. A Bot can prepare them; you decide.
- If you sign in to a shop on the Bot's computer, it could technically buy things, the same way a person could (Grok Bot 101). Don't leave shopping or bank sites signed in.
- Write your rules in plain words in Settings → General → Auto-review. A separate reviewer checks what a Bot is about to do and can block it or ask you (Grok Bot 101). You're still trusting the Bot to follow them, so keep drafts on.
- Complaints, safety questions and legal or medical answers go to you, not the Bot.
- Start in draft mode: the agent prepares, you approve, then you loosen the leash routine by routine.

FAQ
What can I do with Grok Bot?
Give it jobs that repeat: a morning summary, reply drafts for your inbox, follow-ups for quiet leads, invoice reminders and review asks. It does the work on a cloud computer your Bots share, and comes back when it needs your OK (x.ai, xAI's FAQ). Our What should my bot do? planner suggests your first 3.
Is Grok Bot an app?
Yes. You use it from the desktop app on macOS, Windows or Linux, or from the phone app on iOS or Android 9 or later (xAI's FAQ). You don't need to write code. You describe the job in plain words, or, where Teach a task is available, show the Bot once and review the draft skill it makes.
Is Grok Bot free?
No. It comes with xAI's Premium plan ($30 a month), Super ($100) and Ultra ($200) (x.ai), and with older paid Cursor plans and Cursor Teams (Grok Bot help: Plans and billing). Enterprise access is rolling out (xAI's FAQ). Prices checked 18 Oct 2026, before tax. Our Grok Bot pricing guide has the details.
Will it send emails without asking me?
Not if you tell it to draft only. Write the same rule in Settings → General → Auto-review, where a separate reviewer checks what a Bot is about to do (Grok Bot 101). A daily list of drafts to approve keeps every message in one place.
What's the easiest first bot?
A morning summary. It reads your calendar and email and sends you one message, so nothing goes out. The free Starter Kit has a copy-paste version, plus inbox drafts and lead follow-up.
