Guide
Second Google Workspace account won't stay connected in Grok Bot
Updated · by Rosh Perera
Three things get mixed together. First, the official pages disagree on a second Gmail: Cursor's Connect apps help says Gmail connects one mailbox at a time, while xAI's changelog (26 Oct 2026) says adding a second Gmail or Google Drive account opens Google's account picker and removing one leaves the others in place.
Our own Grok Bot has four Gmail and four Google Drive accounts connected side by side. Separately, users report a second Gmail or Workspace account that flashes Added and reverts to Authorize within seconds. A company Google admin may also block Grok until Grok is trusted. Sort which case you have before you rebuild bots. Our free Grok Bot usage check ranks which of your Bots and routines are most likely eating your week, with a fix prompt for each, right in your browser. Facts come from Cursor Connect apps help and xAI's Grok Bot changelog (both checked 29 Oct 2026) and forum thread 168351 (14 Aug 2026). We're an independent site, not part of xAI or Cursor.
Key points
- Official pages disagree on Gmail: Cursor's Connect apps help says "Can I connect two Gmail accounts? No. Gmail connects one mailbox at a time." xAI's changelog (26 Oct 2026) says "Adding a second Gmail or Google Drive account opens Google's account picker, and removing one account leaves the others in place." Our own Grok Bot has four Gmail and four Google Drive accounts connected side by side.
- Other apps may allow a second account: same help page - some apps, like Notion, can connect a second account. Check that app's "add a second account" help when it is not Gmail.
- Added-then-Authorize bug report: forum 168351 (14 Aug 2026) - Authorize, then Added, then within 1-2 seconds reverts to Authorize when adding a second Gmail/Workspace account for split Ops vs personal bots.
- Google admin review is separate: Connect apps help - a company account can stop Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, or Slides until an admin trusts Grok. "Your admin needs to review Grok" is not fixed by switching browsers.
- Distinct from our personal-and-business guide: that page assumes accounts can stick and explains what is shared across bots. This page covers the stickiness / one-mailbox / admin-block failures.
How do you tell limit, bug, and admin block apart?
Name the app that failed: Gmail vs Drive vs Sheets vs Calendar
Cursor's Connect apps help states a one-mailbox rule for Gmail only. xAI's changelog names second Gmail and Google Drive accounts. Write down which app card reverted before you change anything else.
For a second Gmail mailbox, try it once before you plan a swap
Cursor's help: "To use a different Gmail mailbox, disconnect the current one and authorize the other." xAI's changelog (26 Oct 2026): "Adding a second Gmail or Google Drive account opens Google's account picker, and removing one account leaves the others in place." The official pages don't agree, and our own Grok Bot keeps four Gmail accounts side by side. Try adding the second mailbox once. If it won't stay, the disconnect swap is the path Cursor documents.
If Added reverts in 1-2 seconds, capture it and retry once cleanly
Forum 168351 describes that flash. Reopen Authorize/Reconnect once, finish the Google login fully, and note whether a Google admin review or Access blocked page appeared. Changing browsers alone does not clear an admin block (Connect apps help).
Resolve Google admin trust when the blocked page names Grok
Connect apps help steps for IT: Google Admin > Security > Access and data control > API controls > App access control > Manage third-party app access > add Grok (name or client ID from the blocked page) > Trusted for the people who use Grok Bot. That Google trust is separate from a Cursor team admin enabling an app.
Keep Ops and personal mail on the pattern your account allows
If you need admin@ on one Bot and a personal Workspace mailbox on another, confirm whether you hit the one-mailbox rule in Cursor's help or the revert bug. Our personal-and-business accounts guide covers what a connected app shares across bots on the same Grok Bot account once a connection sticks.
Do not confuse Workspace add-on sign-in with Bot Connect apps
Signing into the Marketplace add-on inside Docs does not connect a second Gmail inside Grok Bot. Finish Bot Authorize under Connect apps for Bot-side mail and Drive.

Ready-made use cases
What should you keep in mind?
- Cursor's Connect apps help says No to two Gmail mailboxes, and xAI's changelog describes adding a second one. We don't pick a side. Test on your own account.
- We do not invent a fix ETA for the Added-then-Authorize flash. Point at forum 168351 and support with screenshots when admin trust is already done.
- A connected app is available to every bot on that Grok Bot account (Connect apps help). Disconnect if a bot should not use that mailbox.

FAQ
Why won't my second Google Workspace account stay connected?
Common cases: Cursor's help says Gmail connects one mailbox at a time; Authorize flashes Added then reverts (forum 168351); or a Google admin has not trusted Grok yet (Connect apps help).
Can I keep personal and work Gmail connected at once?
The official pages disagree. Cursor's Connect apps help says: "You cannot keep a personal mailbox and a work mailbox connected to Gmail at the same time." xAI's changelog (26 Oct 2026) describes adding a second Gmail account. Our own Grok Bot has four Gmail accounts connected side by side.
Can any app add a second account?
Some apps, like Notion, can (Cursor help: How-to). For Gmail the official pages disagree, see above. If you don't see Add Another Account, Cursor says that app connects one account at a time.
What if Google says an admin needs to review Grok?
Ask the Workspace admin to trust Grok in App access control. Cursor's Connect apps help lists the admin path. Retry Authorize after approval.
Is this the same as the personal-and-business accounts guide?
No. That guide explains sharing once accounts work. This guide covers when the second account will not stick or you hit the one-mailbox rule in Cursor's help.
